ALTF001

The first Alt release, no doubt primed to become seminal somewhere down the line(?!) Four fine and varied slabs of party fodder have been offered up for your enjoyment, laying out the blueprint for where Alt Recordings wants to take you, musically speaking at least.

Label boss Tone Def steps up first with a restrained groover, keeping just enough bass involved to keep you moving. Mr Smith's ...Chopping Block looks at beats and samples like they were lab rats waiting to be dissected, and the result is a slick piece of micro-technological beat arranging. Joe Ellis cranks things up with a brilliant vocal snippet that drives the bumping, muscular sinews of 198 Yards, while Audio Dependent's The Deep End pulls you in from the very first beat for one of those transcendental musical moments as the tune drops, full of artfully melded melodies and bass that toys with your grey matter.
